Well, scenario #1 seems awfully sad unless I have some (((plan))) to repopulate. Scenario #2 seems kind of depressing, too, if I'm going to be the only person on the new planet. But presumably in scenario #2, I'd still have contact with other humans back on Earth and in fact, may be returning to Earth at some point (otherwise, why is it just me? seems like it must be some kind of expedition). So I'll prevent #1.
