I'll make the favorite store the local yarn store, since it's locally owned & operated (as opposed to, say, Target). It would put more people out of work but it seems the people who work there work as a hobby or for extra money. I don't think it would plunge any families into despair. So I'd close down the yarn store.
If I'm honest, my "favorite local store" is probably the 1-block-away IGA. I love having a grocery store within walking distance and there are times when I go there every day! But that's not why I'd save it. I'd prevent it from going out of business because way more than two people work there, I'm pretty sure most of them depend on that income to live, and (in many cases) are less qualified to do other types of work than the majority of my friends.
At first this was an easy one. My friends would keep their jobs. Then I read Eden's comment and thought if it were a large store and many people would lose their jobs would that make a difference. Honestly no. I think I would feel bad for the other people but I have to take care of my own first. Having a friend now who lost his job is coloring my opinion. He, his wife, and their two girls are barely making ends meet. It directly affects me through their hardship. I worry about them. With the other random people who would lose their jobs I would feel bad but it wouldn't be on my mind 24/7.
