Not knowing anything else, I would prevent #2 since people can die from influenza. Also #2 is a definite & #1 is a maybe.
If it were that I'd definitely get the dream job but they would get an temporary illness like one they get one or two times a year anyway, I might change my mind.
Oh, I guess I'd prevent #2. I'm presuming you mean the real flu, not the myriad other minor illnesses that people call the flu. Besides, in scenario #1, a) if I was running late for an interview for my dream job, I would think there was a damn good reason, and b) if it actually was my dream job, the employer would understand said reason.
Yes, if it were my dream job, they would applaud me for arriving late. :)
