I'd prevent #1, unquestionably. I'd suffer debilitating guilt over #1. While I'm sure I'd feel conflicted about #2, any misgivings would be mitigated by knowing the alternative was me being dead.

Prevent #1 without a doubt. The guilts over killing someone by accident would probably kill me also.
