Dilemma 4/13/09
Who am I, too, that I am not on trial, or in prison?
Me, ruthless and devilish as any, that my wrists are not chain’d with iron, or my
ankles
with
iron?
--Walt Whitman
You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?
1. A major injustice is perpetrated because no one speaks up.
2. An innocent person is destroyed by the false rumor that she is guilty of a major injustice.

Augh. Ok, I'll prevent #1. Partly because I think silence can sometimes be more harmful than outright lying (but people have a tendency to think that lying is the bigger transgression). And partly because the "major injustice" may impact more than the one person affected in scenario #2.
