Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
--William Shakespeare
You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?
1. Your partner has a long-term affair.
2. Your partner has a sex change operation.

I'd prevent #2 even though it's less likely ;)
Hmm. I think I'm going to go with prevent #2, for the reason that while both scenarios involve lies/deception, the deception in scenario 2 has obviously been going on longer--presumably the partner's whole life, thus pre-dating the relationship (presumably the affair in scenario #1 doesn't). Also, I would really hate to think that ze had been that fundamentally unhappy for such a long time. That would be terribly sad.
I would go with #1 because that is a betrayal of someone who loves and trust you. #2 is a betrayal to yourself and you should always be true to yourself even if you may unintentional hurt others while doing so.
