Dilemma 4/6/09
Yesterday, upon the stair
I saw a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish, he’d go away.
--William Mearns
You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?
1. A time traveler goes back in time and prevents World War II and the Holocaust.
2. A time traveler goes back in time and prevents you from being born.

Is that really a dilemma? I can't imagine anyone self sacrificing enough to say prevent #1. I think the holocaust is awful and it never should have happened but personally I wouldn't prevent my own birth. So I prevent #2.
Er, why wouldn't I want the time traveler to prevent WWII and the Holocaust? That would be a good thing!
So, prevent #2! (Besides... if I don't answer prevent #2, I wouldn't be able to magically prevent anything, because if #2 happened, I wouldn't be here! ;-))
p.s. I should probably add that if scenario #1 occurred, I wouldn't exist therefore I wouldn't actually be able exercise my powers to prevent #2. Oh, well, we all have to make sacrifices. ;-)
