Dilemma 2/2/09

You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?

1. A dozen wild monkeys are used for medical testing.
2. A dozen wild monkeys are put in a small zoo.

:-P Ok, well, I'm going to prevent #1. I think there are probably enough already-captive monkeys being bred for medical testing purposes that we don't need to use still-wild ones for that purpose. Also, the "wild monkeys" in scenario two may be an endangered species of monkey, so putting them in a zoo may in fact be an attempt to save the species from extinction.

I think I'd stop #1, not knowing anything else. I've visited some small zoos that are exceptional.
