Dilemma 4/30/09

Self-knowledge
is a dangerous thing
and can't be granted
by a single vision.

--Craig Erick Chaffin

You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?

1. You are able to see disasters that will happen in the future, but you cannot do anything that will change the outcomes.
2. You have realistic dreams, some of which predict the future, but you never know until after events unfold which dreams are predictive.

I would prevent #2 b/c the not knowing would make me insane. #1 I could prepare for.

I dunno. #2 seems like it would be pretty entertaining (second sight, right?). I'd be up for this, if only for the guest shot on AC360 where AC & Erica attempt to debunk me!

As for #1, if you knew say, there was going to be an earthquake on X day, well, that would be useful information to have. Sure, you couldn't prevent the earthquake, but you could make sure everyone was prepared for it. (Once you proved your bona fides on this, you'd probably have an Emergency Preparedness job-for-life if you wanted it).

So... I'm going to prevent neither today.
