Dilemma 5/12/09

You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?

1. The Amazon rainforest becomes a desert.
2. The massive farmland areas in your country become a desert.

Prevent #1. The diversity in the rainforest is far more valuable than any commercially-grown crop.

Prevent #1. Much of the plains actually *are* "desert" just heavily irrigated.
