You have the magical power to stop one and only one of the following two scenarios. Which would you prevent?
1. The government mandates the use of public transportation, and bans the personal ownership of all gasoline-powered vehicles.
2. The government bans washers and dryers because they use too much energy.

I would prevent #2. Taking public transit is not a hardship. Washing everything by hand? That would suck.
Prevent #2. Taking public transportation is no big deal. I loved to do it when I was in England and my brother doesn't even own a car because he lives in Chicago and it's easier to take the EL.
